About the Book:
The Guardian Duke is award-winning novelist Jamie Carie’s most exciting story yet, a uniquely arranged Regency-era romantic adventure where hero and heroine know each other through written letters but have yet to meet.

Gabriel, the Duke of St. Easton, is ordered by the King to take guardianship over Lady Alexandria Featherstone whose parents are presumed dead after failing to return from a high profile treasure hunt. But Alexandria ignores this royal reassignment, believing her parents are still alive and duly following clues that may lead to their whereabouts. Gabriel, pressured by what are actually the King’s ulterior motives, pursues her across windswept England and the rolling green hills of Ireland but is always one step behind.

When they do meet, the search for earthly treasure will pale in comparison to what God has planned for both of them.

I am an avid reader, but a light reader. I like to read what I term “fluff” novels, my favorites are in the contemporary romance genre. After chasing my two little kiddos around all day I look for something easy and relaxing to read at the end of the day.  Occasionally I will read a historical novel, but I am not naturally drawn to this type of book.  I recently read  ” The Guardian Duke” by Jamie Carie.  Just by the title you can probably assume it is a historical novel and set in England. What might not be as obvious is that it is a suspense novel as well.

I was sucked into this book!  The story is about a Duke and his reluctant ward. His ward is trying to find her parents whom have been declared deceased by the prince. She is currently trying to keep the duke from catching up to her. The ward’s parents were hired to find a highly sought after journal that other parties are trying to locate as well.  The story is very suspenseful and ended at a very suspenseful part. The duke caught up with her right as her ship is leaving Ireland to go to Iceland. The duke was left standing at the port. Needless to say I  am anxiously awaiting the next part of this trilogy so that I can see what is going to happen next!

Another aspect about this book that I enjoyed is that it has romance, but is not sexually explicit. I think that the majority of romances are a little too raunchy for me, but this one was tasteful and also had a little bit of religion tossed in, as there is some scripture and prayers included.

All in all I would recommend this book and am eagerly waiting for the next release coming this summer!
