The Mama Report Cooks Pioneer Woman Style Part II

Today I tried two more recipes from The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl. I only have one word to say about The Pioneer Woman this time- genius.  I made the Spicy Pulled Pork recipe first as this takes all day to cook.  The build up was amazing.  All day I smelled this wonderful aroma of cooked pork. The Mama Report Cooks Pioneer Woman Style

One of my favorite blogs out there is The Pioneer Woman.  I recently acquired her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl.  After reading through the book and carefully marking pages I started cooking some of the recipes this past week.  Here are my reviews at this point. The Sensible Cook- Beef & Cauliflower

A few months ago through my husband's work we were able to receive three months of The Sensible Cook for free.  Our quick favorite became a simple recipe called Beef & Cauliflower.  My husband loves this recipe.  He would eat it once a week if I made it that often.  Luckily it is easy to make. Fall is here at last! I love autumn.  The cool crisp air, the beautiful warm colors, I love it all.  Everything seems possible with the beginning of fall.  I know people feel that way about the beginning of the year, but for me it is always with the start of autumn.  I guess I associate this feeling with school.  After so many years attending school and then teaching school it shouldn't be such a surprise. Slow Cooker Bible Dessert Recipe

As I promised I made a dessert from the The Slow Cooker Bible (Cookbook Bible) .  The recipe of choice was Coconut Rice Pudding.  The picture looked fabulous in the book.  And all the other recipes I had made so far were so fabulous.  This recipe however was not a masterpiece.  First of all my rice pudding didn't look like the picture in the book.  That is a sure sign something is off.  The taste was good, but nothing spectacular.  Nothing like my earlier recipes from the book.  Nonetheless I'm sure most the pudding will be gone by tomorrow.  … [Read more...]

Vidalia Chop Wizard Review and Homemade Chicken Potpie Recipe

I received the Vidalia Chop Wizardas a Christmas present a few years ago and it obviously had the potential to be one of those gifts that never gets used.   I gave it a few tries and was quickly impressed.  The uniform size of all my vegetables was a huge plus.  I can cut an onion fairly well, but the Chop Wizard did it so easily.  In a matter of seconds I can have onions, green peppers, potatoes, carrots, and celery cut uniformly.  This is wonderful for soups, but I will show you how I used it to make our family favorite homemade chicken potpie. Slow Cooker Bible Review

This past week I delved into a great book.  A mystery?  Romance? Perhaps science fiction?  Nope, nope, nope.  A cookbook.  I love looking through cookbooks.  Especially those that have pictures.  I'm like a kid that way I guess.  The more pictures the better.
