Easter Puppy Chow with Robin Eggs

If you are looking for a quick way to add a little seasonal holiday fun to a sweet treat then this recipe might be a good fit. I used the traditional Chex recipe for Puppy Chow, but made a slight variation in order to add a little Easter-inspired goodness. Technically this recipe is called Muddy Buddies according to the recipe, but I’ve always called it Puppy Chow.

I added a few {1/4 cup} of Cadbury Mini Eggs to the chocolate chip mixture. It takes a bit longer to melt these eggs, but stirring about every 30 seconds helps. And then of course additional Cadbury Mini Eggs to the finished Puppy Chow mixture to complete the festive look.

  1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
  2. In 1-quart microwaveable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, 1/4 cup Cadbury Mini Eggs, peanut butter and butter uncovered on high 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
  3. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Add additional Cadbury Mini Eggs, as many as desired. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
