Putting the Camera to the Test- GALAXY NOTE 3 { #VZWVOICES #MOM}

“Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Moms Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.”

edited version

Like most modern day mobile phone users the ability to take photos at any moment is a preferred convenience.  I own a large Canon SLR, but it is not easy or handy to carry such a large camera. Smart phones have enabled us to leave our bulky cameras behind to reap the benefits of being able to take a picture with our phone-  anywhere.  There is no question that cell phone cameras are a necessity for many of us.

I received a number of comments regarding the potential photo quality of my new Galaxy Note 3 from my last post. Once I had my email functions created appropriately my next “to-do” item was to explore the camera. A few weeks ago my family took a leisurely Sunday fall stroll, my perfect setting to put this cell phone camera to the test.

I will readily confess my photos displayed here are edited. I always edit my photos…..even my SLR shots.  That’s just good blogging.   But these edited images can still showcase the ability of the Galaxy.  Either the potential for a good, clean shot is there or it’s not.  Editing can only do so much.  As a comparison I’ve included below an edited version (mostly boosting of color) versus a completely unedited shot.

Based upon my experience I can confirm the Galaxy Note 3 has a camera capable of suiting my photo needs. Actually the camera is probably more than what I need. I’m mostly a shoot and click kind of gal.  I may occasionally experiment with features, but typically I don’t have time.  I need a camera that works effectively, quickly without much fuss.  I am the mother of three boys.

While I prefer a simple method of photography with my mobile device, there are a LOT of options with the Galaxy Note 3.  Some top aspects to consider.

1. Beauty Face- enhance facial features automatically when taking portrait pictures.  A girl will take all the help she can get.  I’m not getting any younger.

2. Best Photo- Take a series of pictures, and then select the best to save.  Awesome feature for a mother.  Kids are never maintain the perfect pose for long.  This feature allows you to make the most of the moment.

3. Best Face- Select the best picture of each person from 5 consecutive pictures to get the best merged group picture.  Multiple children? Enough said.

4. Sound & shot- Enrich pictures by adding background sounds for a few seconds. Definitely a luxury feature. Not necessary, but fun!

6. Lots of editing features- There is no need to upload your photo into photo editing software.  Perfect your photo within the phone itself, as there are a variety of photo editing options available.

Look for my next Verizon post when I will discuss cell phone coverage.  Oh yes. I’m going to dip into the conversational topic of adequate cell phone reception.
