Poptillas (Popped Tortilla Chips) Review & Giveaway

I am always on the lookout for a healthier alternative to traditional snack foods.  Sure, the various forms of chips taste great, but most of them are not so good for you.  The recent wave of new snack products the are made in healthy ways with improved ingredients is definitely a trend I support.

With the idea of a healthier snack food in mind, Classic Foods recently created Poptillas- popped tortilla chips.  These chips have the crunch that people crave while munching on chips, but are popped- not fried or baked.  In fact they are…

This sounds pretty awesome doesn’t it?  Of course the real question is, how do they taste?  I opened the Nacho Cheese flavor for a sample taste test.  I had full intentions of snapping a picture of these chips.  But I sort of blacked out and the next thing I realized the bag was empty.  Not my finest moment.  But I guess it speaks to the awesome taste and quality of the product since it didn’t even last long enough for a picture:)

When the Salsa Verde bag was approximately half finished I compelled myself to stop and take a picture.  Whew!  At least I have a little self control:)

They do not taste like normal tortilla chips.  The popped nature of the chips creates a completely different taste and texture.

I really enjoy the lightness of the Poptillas.  But obviously as I already proved it can be easy to eat too many!

Out of all the flavors my favorite is the Nacho Cheese, but they also sell Salsa Verde and Yellow Corn.  My least favorite flavor is yellow corn just because it doesn’t have any seasonings on it.  But it does lend itself well for dipping into salsa!

If you are looking for a healthier alternative to traditional chips, I would definitely recommend Poptillas!
