I created my own initiative.  I sound like such an alcoholic with my suggestion, but really I am just looking for convenience.  

As you can see, I need to work on gaining support for my cause:)  My reasoning is motivated by a strong desire to simplifiy my life:)  In order to purchase wine or regular beer (specially created beer with little alcohol can be sold in grocery stores) I need to visit another store.  I would love to be able to purchase everything I need in one location.  I know the state of Wisconsin allows wine and beer to be sold in store, I think it's time for Minnesota to get with the program.  I'd love your support for my little cause, help a mom out!:)

Team Umizoomi is a great TV show for preschool aged children.  My three year old is influenced by his older brothers, but when he has a chance to choose a TV show I prefer that he watch entertaining, but educational shows like Team Umizoomi.  No violence, only fun brightly colored characters that showcase learning and fun- this is what TV should be about for the younger set.  We will be taking a road trip this summer and I know Team Umizoomi will be coming with us!:)

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks. You better run, better run, outrun my gun.

 When I look at these shoes and when I wear these shoes, that song continuously runs through my head. Yes, I have a problem. I need to move past the song in regards to the shoes, but darn it, that song is so catchy!

Pumped up kicks. Yep, that is what these shoes are, but to be more precise they are wedge sneakers. Yes, you read that correctly- wedged sneakers. Sneakers with a heel. I like sneakers. I like heels. Why not give them a try?!

Of course in regards to shoes one of the most important aspects is comfort and fit. I had no idea how wedged sneakers might feel. I’ve wore heels that are killer, though the thought of sneakers seems comfy. I was really surprised at how comfortable these Upere Black Suede shoes are. There is no wobbling. There is no teetering. The base of the shoes provides solid stability. And unlike traditional heels which can leave your toes pinned and crushed my feet as a whole are comfy. The stability of the shoe can mostly be attributed to two main aspects- support and a small heel. Typically when wearing heels the ankles are exposed with no support. Wearing these sneakers provides ample support for your ankle. In many ways these shoes are more similar to boots. And the heel is not extremely high on the shoes making for comfortable walking. The sneakers provide enough height to give a bit more sophisticated look without causing foot trauma like traditional heels.

The only part of the shoe I would have liked to have seen a bit different was a the tongue. The tongue is large on these sneakers- that’s the style. I might be a little out of the loop on this one, as I would have preferred a smaller tongue.

Overall I have found these shoes to be a hip and modern twist on traditional sneakers. If you are looking to add a little extra glam to your wardrobe, but stay comfortable as well I recommend checking out the selection of wedged sneakers available from Upere.

As a mom laundry can seem like a never ending task.  Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I had everything completely washed, folded, and put away.  As soon as I empty out the dirty clothes bin, more comes in.  Such is the life of a mom, I guess:)

Most of the DVD’s my children watch are part of their generation.  But once in a while my husband and I get the opportunity to share our generational TV shows with our kids.   My husband and I were both fans of Fraggle Rock as children.  The show is celebrating it’s 30 year anniversary, a fact which immediately makes me feel old:)  These muppets- Gobo, Red, Boober, Wembly and Mokey- are as timeless as ever.  Jim Henson created all the iconic characters of my childhood and watching this DVD made me feel transported back in time, at least briefly.  I don’t know if my children enjoyed the DVD in the same way my husband and I did, but watching the epsiodes did provide nostalgic family fun which can be hard to come by.

Super markets have a plethora of options, but all too frequently I get in the rut of purchasing the same products.   I’m happy that I was able to break free of my traditional purchases and try two different Sambazon products for the first time.  I had seen this brand in stores before, but I didn’t understand the basis of the company.  Sambazon is dedicated to bringing the healthy, nutrient rich foods from the Amazon to people around the world, but not at the expense of the Amazon itself or the people that live there.  Sambazon is a company with a conscience.  Because of the level of dedication to the environment and the people who help create there product, Sambazon products have a larger price point.  When I look at the products on the grocery shelves it is easy to dismiss something that is more expensive, but it is always wise to remember when a product is Organic and Fair Trade Certified, the company is maintaining a high level of worldly responsibility.

I recently had the opportunity to try the Supergreens and Protein varieties

Protein: These indulgent smoothies are packed with 10g of organic vegan whole food protein per bottle (which helps to build lean muscle) and healthy omegas to keep you full longer. It comes in three yummy flavors: Açaí berry + Vanilla; Açaí berry + Chocolate; Chocolate + Almond + Coconut milk

Supergreens with Kale + Ginger: This is a potent blend of Açaí berries, a powerful new blend of six varieties, plus a hint of ginger. It delivers around two servings of whole fruits and veggies, without added sugar.

My favorite out of the two I tried was the Supergreens.  This superfoods smoothie had just enough sweetness to make it appealing to me.  And while I can’t say the Protein variety was unpleasant, I don’t know that I will purchase it again.  The vanilla sweetness was tasty, but the protein aspect gave this drink a somewhat chalky heaviness that I didn’t care for.  Keep in mind, I am not a granola eating, tree hugging, organic obsessed consumer.  I would consider myself just an average American mother.  I mostly try to make wise decisions and choose healthy foods, but ultimately I purchase what we like.

Bottom line- I’m glad I had the opportunity to try Sambazon and I would be interested in trying some of their other varieties such as- Açaí/Antioxidant, Energy, and Breakfast Blend, but I’ll probably pass on the Protein & Supergreens flavors.

Taking care of a little one just became a little more stylish.  Honestly, how come they didn’t have adorable items like this when I had babies?  Munchkin has just released their new Swaddle Angel line which features distinctly printed baby cloth items such as swaddle blankets and burp clothes.

I recently had the opportunity to check out these adorable new items and I have to confess I love the pattern.  Check this out!

And even though this blanket is supposed to be a swaddling blanket, I love the pattern so much I’m going to use it as a light throw of my home.   Isn’t it gorgeous!?  When my kids were little it seemed as though the only swaddling blankets I could find consisted of zoo animals and other cheeesy type images.  Yes, children like brightly colored animals and such, but an infant doesn’t know any different.  My thinking is that the swaddling blanket ought to appeal to the mom most of all.  I know I would have loved to have wrapped my little babies in such a beautiful cloth.
