This weekend was the opening of the newly designed Best Buy store in Richfield, Minnesota. This newly streamlined store is all about making the Best Buy shopping experience easier for you- the consumer. Technology is ever changing and Best Buy hopes to make your onsite shopping experience as effective as online shopping can be.
Do you live in Minnesota? This store is super easy to find. It is right off Interstate 494 at the Lyndale exit. My husband and I have been shopping in this complex for years. And we were pleasantly surprised to find the new Best Buy here.
Important aspects of the new layout include-
· A personalized shopping experience with one-on-one support throughout the store, and the addition of a Geek Squad Solution Central at the center of the store to help you learn about, and get the most out of your gadgets
· Eye-level displays creating more opportunities to play with and discover the technology you want – and need
· New in-store digital displays that update you on the latest deals, in-store activities, and information on all your favorite brands
· Registers located throughout the store to streamline the check-out process so you can get in and out faster than ever
Upon entering the store I was immediately struck at how open the store felt. Yes, it is still large, but I definitely had a clearer idea of where everything was located. Large signs hung from the ceiling allow the customer to see how the store is laid out.
I love the new checkout area. This type of payment system is much more effective. How many times have you been caught behind someone having problems in your line? This system keeps one line following much more speedily. This will be handy during the holidays.
Another difference in this new store is that the DVD and CD section is smaller. Following the current trend of purchasing DVD’s and CD’s online, Best Buy is only stocking current selections. Of course there is still a large selection of titles online.
But all the traditional items that consumers turn to at Best Buy are still there, plus new kitchen and home theater experiences. Check this out!
My husband could get lost in the theater section!
I imagine more Best Buy stores will be changing to this debut format in the months to come. However, I’m sure some will retain the traditional layout. Get the full scoop on these new changes buy visiting Best Buy online.

I’d have to go with the improved check-outs – my only complaint about the old layout would be the long lines and odd serpentine layout used by many stores, so having more check-out stations is a great thing!

I’ve had my eye on one of those Keurig coffeemakers ever since they came out. I like that section. Also, I think it would be great fun to hide in one of the seats in the theater room & stay while the store closes to watch movies all night! Wouldn’t that be fun? Wait…that’s illegal, isn’t it? lol
