Aldrich Memorial Nursery School a Great Preschool in Rochester, Minnesota

aldrich memorial preschool great for kindergarten readiness

I’ve been meaning to write about the preschool my children attend for quite some time.  A quality preschool experience is not a matter to be taken lightly.  Hands-on curriculum that fosters the mind is essential for this age group.

Aldrich Memorial Nursery School has provided my boys with the tools they need to succeed in kindergarten and grade school.

My middle son is now on the cusp of kindergarten and he is ready.  When he was three years old I experienced all those common fears parents tend to worry about-

  • should he know all his letters?
  • should he be able to count to hundred?
  • should he be able to read?
  • what if he falls behind!?

The teachers at Aldrich preschool reassured me that when the time came for grade school, he would be prepared.  Undoubtedly these teachers are pro’s and they clearly know what children need to succeed.  Through various forms of play, my children have been learning all those important items they need to know.  And the best part of all- they had a wonderful time along the way.  Some preschools like to extol sole academic learning in a traditional desk setting, but placing that stress on little minds and bodies that need to move and explore is not a good idea.

Socialization, beginning literacy skills, number concepts, process skills, social diversity, gross motor skills, fine motors skills, music….the list goes on and on.  The curriculum at Aldrich Memorial Nursery School has been perfected to meet the needs of preschool age children.

I’ve had the unfortunate experience of discovering not all preschools are created equal.  My oldest son (not pictured) attend a preschool in a different setting closer to where we live.  In short, he was bored.  The curriculum (or lack thereof) did not engage his natural curiosity.  Aldrich provides the perfect mix of learning with hands-on fun.

My youngest son is in the 2 year old class and he thinks it is the best.  He loves going to school with his older brother and they find such joy in being reunited after their respective classes.  I can’t wait for him to continue his learning at Aldrich.

If you live in the Rochester area I highly encourage you to explore the possibility of sending your children to this quality preschool program.

One of the preschools in our area has a wonderful program that includes cooking lessons taught in Spanish. The difference in preschools is amazing, but the one I’m talking about is more than my college tuition a semester. Not all parents can afford the costs.
