Dexter Bexley and the Big Blue Beastie on the Road Review

Dexter Bexley and the Big Blue Beastie on the Road by Joel Stewart is a fun book to read.  I love books that make me smile and chuckle, and this is definitely one of them. I’m not sure what a Big Blue Beastie is , but regardless he seems like a good buddy.  Perhaps every boys needs a Big Blue Beastie to get into trouble with.  Because that is what happens in this story.  Not only can Dexter not sleep, but he feels the need to hoot.  My kids also seem to like to hoot right at bedtime.  In fact the mere mention of the word bed brings out the crazy in them.  Dexter and the Beastie hoot so much they are kicked out of town and this is were their adventure begins.

They meet Sir Percy Pecket who is the romantic dashing hero.  He needs help rescuing his beautiful Princess Philippina.

Once Philippina is awake she sends Sir Percy Peckett to slay the dragon.  The scary dragon ends up not being  what they expected and instead joins the group.  Soon their traveling around the land as performers.

After traveling for a bit too long Sir Percy Pecket helps the group to take a break by sweetly serenading them to sleep.

And so the traveling group sleeps while snoring away the night.

This was an immensely enjoyable book for me and my children.  I always love when we both want to read the book.  It sure does make life that much more simpler.
