On April 17, 2012, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Marvel Animation, will release The Super Hero Squad Show: The Infinity Gauntlet! Season 2, Volume 3 DVD

The fate of the universe rests in the hands — or should we say on the hand — of whoever wears the Infinity Gauntlet, a mystical glove that gives its owner all the power of the cosmos! And if Thanos has his way, he’ll be wearing the Infinity Gauntlet very soon! But first he has to acquire each of the gems required to power the gauntlet, and the only thing standing in his way is the teamwork of the exciting and lovable Super Hero Squad — Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, Falcon and Scarlet Witch! The second uproariously funny and adventure-filled season of The Super Hero Squad Show nears its conclusion!

Season 2 features a stellar ensemble of voice talent, including: Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”), Michael Dorn (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”), Mark Hamill (“Star Wars”), John O’Hurley (“Seinfeld”), Wayne Knight (“Jurassic Park”), Jane Lynch (“Glee”), James Marsters (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”), Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) and George Takei (“Star Trek”)!

When I presented this new DVD to my four year old son I knew there would be cheers.  On any given day we play Super Heroes on a regular basis.  And while we have limited TV channels and can not watch the show he was already familiar with all the characters.  In fact I didn’t think they were the Avengers, but of course my son corrected me.  “Yes Mom, they are the Avengers”.  Hmmmm…this DVD release suddenly makes perfect sense.  With the Disney Avengers movie coming to theaters soon, this DVD is perfect for all little fans of Super Heroes.  I am so thrilled that companies make these child friendly alternatives to adult movies.  Some parents will let their children watch anything, but I am not one of those parents.  I understand and appreciate my sons interest in awesome new movies that look visually appealing, but most of those movies are not made for little eyes.  Providing a safe child friendly alternative is very important.

My seven year old scoffed at this DVD when he first saw it believing that it looked too little kiddish.  Isn’t that funny for a seven year old!  But just as I predicted he loved it!  With three boys in my home ages seven, four, and two they immediately were spellbound.  I can’t entirely understand it.  I like Super Heroes, but not with the same intense interest of my boys.  I guess I am merely the wrong gender. My seven year old as proclaimed the DVD set “awesome!”.

The Super Hero Squad Show:  The Infinity Guantlet! Season 2, Vol. 3 is available for preorder from Amazon for $11.99.
