An adorable short video starring Junior Asparagus: “Lenny and the Lost Birthday”. Plays at the start of the show before the main feature.

We recently received the new Veggie Tales Robin Good DVD.  My children had never seen a Veggie Tales video before so I was curious to see who they would react.  We had all been suffering from colds and allergies at our house, so one morning before school we decided to snuggle in and give it a try.  My daughter who is just over 2 watched it, but it is hard to gather a strong opinion from her as she is so young.   My 5 year old son however, was not too sure about talking vegetables.

The premise of the video is the Robin Hood story, but they have changed it to make it so that the stealing from the rich to give to the poor was more of a debate.  This video did hold both of my kids attention and once he moved past the “talking vegetable idea” he did get into the video.  What I really liked is that the story reinforced morals that we are trying to instill in our children.  It also had references to Bible verses and stories which is also nice for Christian families.  This is not a video that we will watch a lot, but it was one that my kids will enjoy on occasion.  My son and I had a talk after the video about what the story was about and how it is wrong to take things from people and that you should help people that don’t have as many advantages as we do.  I love videos like this one that create an opportunity for dialogue with my children.   I thought this was a well thought out video that really promotes honest discussions on how we want to be treated and how to treat others.
