Yoga is one of the best forms of exercise, benefiting body and mind. It can also seem mysterious, even intimidating. Thanks to Desi Bartlett, anyone can get started and get results fast. Includes two unique practices, one an active, easy flow for complete body toning, the other slower and deeper for building long, lean muscles. Even if you’ve never done yoga before in your life, this is for you. Approx. 50 min. on 1 DVD, with optional Spanish and Spanglish audio tracks. An Acacia Production.

Acacia Fitness DVD incluyen audio en espanol.

Flexible, I am not.  Nonetheless I was willing to give Yoga for Beginners with Desi Bartlett a shot.  The DVD is divided into two different workouts.  Solar (sun) is a workout that focuses on inner strength and a warm body.  Or to put it simply this exercise is going to make you sweat. And the second workout is Lunar (moon).  This group of yoga moves is designed to relieve stress and has slower and deeper stretches.  Both workouts are 25 minutes in length.

Obviously the Lunar yoga exercises were easier for me and felt much more natural.  I was capable of performing the Solar group, but as an inexperienced yoga exerciser this is much more challenging.  If you are in shape, flexible, and familiar with yoga the Solar group will suit you well, however if you’re like me stick to the Lunar path.

Desi does a good job explaining the moves and works at a nice steady pace.  When I tried Tai Chi I quickly felt overwhelmed, but with yoga everything is moving at a slower pace.  This slower pace makes it easier to focus and truly perform the moves.  With continued use I can hopefully can more flexibility.

Overall I found Desi Bartlett’s DVD to be a great yoga DVD.  Two different yoga workouts and a clear fluid motion help make this DVD a winner.

Here I am in action.  Yikes!

See the extra arm in my lap?  I had an audience that day who actually wanted to sit in my lap.  He was excited to try yoga as he has his own yoga DVD.  He was not so impressed with this one as there was no storytelling involved like his:)

I received this DVD to review, however all opinions are my own.
