Surprise Nana! I’m coming over for movie night!:)
Nana and I have been on a number of adventures together since we first meet. (Nana is my husband’s mother)
Not only do Nana and I share a love of foreign travel, but we also have similar tastes in movies. She is frequently quoted as saying she likes “feel good” movies. And typically I agree. As soon as I saw trailer for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, I had a hunch it would be a movie both of us would enjoy.
In the next week Nana and I will have the opportunity to watch the movie together as well as enjoy a few special treats inspired by the movie. You’ll have to wait for my follow-up post to see specifically what these items are. But if you’ve ever been to London, you’ll instantly understand the nostalgia factor. I know Nana and my husband will be fighting over a certain item in particular.

An award-winning, all-star cast, led by Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Maggie Smith, lights up this “buoyant comedy laced with genuine emotion.” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) When seven cash-strapped seniors decide to “outsource” their retirement to a resort in far-off India, friendship and romance blossom in the most unexpected ways. Smart, life-affirming and genuinely charming, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a “true classic that reminds us that it’s never too late to find love and a fresh beginning at any age.” (Rex Reed, The New York Observer).

Henna has been around for centuries and is very popular in Indian culture. It is typically applied in a paste form and left on the skin for a few hours and can last up to over a month. Bindis were made popular in North America in the 90s by Gwen Stefani. Not only are they a fun, colorful conversation piece – but they also are said to retain energy and strengthen concentration as well as protect from bad luck.
