I’m sorry to say that we have not seen the movie, Hotel Transylvania yet. But this lack of movie viewing did not impair my oldest son’s ability to enjoy the new Hotel Transylvania DS game. Obviously, we are eager to see this movie via DVD, and while I think seeing the movie ahead of time would of added extra knowledge to the video game, it wasn’t necessary.
Like many other video games, this one requires fighting and search and rescue components. The top screen displays the action being taken, while the bottom screen displays Mavis’ location within the game.
The rating of this game is 10+, which I entirely agree. Of course, I’m letting my 8 year old son play the game, but 10+ sounds about right:) The reasoning is that there is chopping off of zombie heads, it isn’t particularly gruesome, but still when heads are coming off, it isn’t a good fit for little kids.
And while the main character in this game is a girl- Mavis. My son was undeterred. Obviously girls will love this aspect, but I don’t believe too many boys will be put out because of it.
This game has the potential for many hours of entertainment. My son is far from exploring all the different levels of this game. Like any good video game, it will a number of hours of play to reach the full depth of the game.
Check out this short video for a full look at the graphics.
