Hampton Hotel & Suites- Eagan, Minnesota Review

My family took a mini vacation to the Cities this past weekend.  For those of you who aren’t from Minnesota, “the Cities” means St. Paul and Minneapolis.  We live just a little over an hour away, but with the kids being so little it can make for a long day to drive there and back in one day.  We decided to stay at the Hampton Hotel & Suites in Eagan (a suburb of the Cities).  I picked this particular hotel because it offers a continental breakfast and a swimming pool.  My kids love having breakfast at the hotel as I let them eat in the room while they watch TV.  This never happens for breakfast at home and is their special hotel treat.   My boys are currently in the process of taking their summer swimming lessons and they were excited to show off their new learned skills in the hotel swimming pool.

After our recent epic road trip I have seen a wide variety of hotel accommodations.   I am pleased to report that our stay in Eagan was wonderful.  The staff was very friendly.  Were they friendly because they work for Hampton or because they live in Minnesota?  You be the judge:)  After the ordeal I had checking into a hotel at our time in Keystone, SD recently,  I was relieved that my check-in at Hampton Hotel was so easy and fast.    It literally took about three minutes to check in!  Here is Minnesota friendly Michelle who took care of business!

After I checked in I took a few shots of our room BEFORE the kids had a chance to create chaos!  Doesn’t the room look inviting?

I love the lighting in the room.  I believe it was a recent remodel.

This room had plenty of space with a king sized bed and a double fold-a-way sofa.

Beautiful bathroom.  Can I live here?

The boys were all over these mints once they entered the room.  What a nice treat!

As a blogger and laptop owner I was delighted to see this laptop computer tray.  This is definitely a nice touch!  This made it much easier for me to blog while laying in my comfy bed watching HDTV!

After we unloaded all our baggage with one of those handy rolling carts we were off to the swimming pool!

Our eldest son couldn’t be bothered to take a picture as he was busy swimming:)

The kids had a wonderful time in the pool.  They are really not too hard to please.  I can happily state that the water was warm.  There is nothing worse than cold pool water!

The pool even came with toys for the kids!

We didn’t have a chance to try the hot tub this trip.  Perhaps next time.

The next morning we were delighted to find the best continental breakfast EVER.  I had a hard time getting decent photos as it was a popular place, but this will give you an idea of its magnificence!

Biscuits w/gravy, cheese omelets, sausage.  Does life get better than this?  Wait there’s more!

Notice that there are TWO waffle makers!  Brilliant!

Coffee is a MUST!

Also milk, tea, yogurt (many varieties), juice, cereal, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, bread, bagels, English muffins, pound cake,

AND SALSA!  This might not seem like a big deal, but I am pretty sure I have never seen a continental breakfast with salsa before.   This is really an entirely elite level of preparedness.   I can not speak of the taste since I was too busy eating biscuits and gravy and fresh hot waffles, but eggs with salsa would have been next on my list.

The hotel also had extra amenities such as an exercise room and a business room.  Not only is it handy to have access to these kind of facilities while traveling, but for some people it is essential.  There were little touches within each of these rooms that added an extra degree of comfort and convenience.  And these additions also feature Hampton of Eagan’s level of customer satisfaction.

Notice the plants, calculator, scissors, pens, pencils,  pencil sharpener, and of course printer and computer.

These features are certainly the little things, but it is the little things that make all the difference.

The exercise room has three treadmills, one stair master, one stationary bike plus fans and an air purifier.  Most hotels would not bother with an air purifier as it is an extra cost, but again Hampton went that extra step.

The main seating room in the lobby had able places to relax and also a flat screen TV and fireplace.  Obviously the fireplace was not on in July, but I can visualize how cozy it would be come winter time.

Besides the comfortable room, great facilities, and friendly staff the Hampton Hotel & Suites in Eagan is a great place to stay because of its location.  We were able to take the hotel provided shuttle to the Mall of America as it is within the five miles radius that the shuttle operates.  Also included within this radius?  The airport.  How convenient is that?  But even if your not interested in using the shuttle the location of the hotel makes for easy access to the Cities in general.  Interstate 35E is nearby making for easy traveling.  While we were in town we visited Como Town, the Como Zoo & Observatory, IKEA, and numerous other stores.  Being a weekend the traffic was not bad so we had an easy time traveling from one point to another.
