Cascade Ice (a Great Alternative to Soda) Review

I have a guilty confession to tell you.  I drink pop, soda, whatever you want to call it, I’m hooked.   It hasn’t always been this way.  While I was pregnant and nursing my three sons I mostly refrained from these drinks.  When I did have a soda it would be the caffeine free variety.  Then I  weaned my youngest and last child and went crazy.  I told myself, not to feel guilty, because I had spent so many years abstaining.  This was my reward.  About half a year as gone by and I am addicted.  That might be a strong word, but but sometimes it feels that way.  I know it isn’t good for you, but boy it sure tastes great as a pick me up from a night of too little sleep.

I am always on the lookout of a soda alternative.  I recently discovered Cascade Ice and was pleasantly surprised.  Immediately I was intrigued by the label.

This sparkling water beverage is naturally flavored with juice.  It sounds too good to be true.  It must taste like crap, right?  Wrong!  I was truly impressed with the taste.  I tried Wildberry, Coconut, Peach Mango, and Blueberry Watermelon, however there are over 33 flavors available.

I immediately grabbed Wild Berry first.  If Cascade Ice was any good Wild Berry had the best chance at being a winner.  It was great!  I loved it.  Many naturally flavored drinks are missing one thing that I find essential- carbonation.  I like the fizz.  Drinking flat beverages tastes well…..flat.  The fizz gives the beverage a nice added kick.  I must admit I kept analyzing the ingredient list sure that there must be something “extra” in it making it taste so good.  I am a conspiracy theorist sometimes:)  The drinks do contain sucralose (an artificial sweeter) so I’m not entirely sure how they can be labeled as natural, but perhaps it has to do with the fact that, that is one of the smallest ingredients in the drink.  What are the main ingredients?  Carbonated water (of course), citric acid, and pear juice.  Each bottle as a varying number of calories, but most are in the 2 calorie range.

I went on to try Coconut, Peach Mango, and Blueberry Watermelon.  They were all great and I was fairly doubtful that I would even like Blueberry Watermelon.

I’m not quite ready to give up my soda yet, but at least I have a great alternative.  If I can drink Cascade Ice at least once a day it will cut back on my pop intake.  And with such great tasting varieties my options are numerous!
