Keep Cool this Summer with Musselman’s Smoothie Ice Pops

Summer is here in a very hot way.  This week the temperature is not predicted to dive below 90 during the week.  And the humidity?  It is so thick outside my head turns to mush after about two minutes.  What’s a SAHM and her crew to do?  I decided to tackle a Creamy Peach Berry Smoothie/Ice Pop recipe from Musselman’s thanks to the recent delivery they sent me.  Check this out.

My mission?  Create a nutritious and cool snack for my children that will have them begging for more.   I can inform you officially my mission has been accomplished.  Before we ventured outside I whipped up a batch of Creamy Peach Berry Smoothie/Ice Pops.  This recipe was very easy to make.  It obviously requires a blender or food processor and can be made in minutes.  Let me show you.

First add 1 cup Musselman’s Natural Apple Sauce

Next, add 2 cups chopped up peaches.

To that add 1/2 cup raspberries or strawberries.

Add juice of 1/2 a lime (I just added lime juice from a bottle rather than cutting up a lime) and 1/2 cup milk and blend until smooth.

You can see in the picture below that it still has chunks so I needed to blend it some more.Once it is smooth it will look like this.

At this point you can decide which direction you want to take with this recipe- smoothie or ice pops, or both!

I opted for BOTH!

Here is the smoothie portion.  My middle son (age 4) loved it.  What was great is that he thought he was getting a “special” drink, not realizing it was packed full of nutritious fruit!

I even made some for myself!

Delicious, healthy, and a great way to cool off!

Next, I poured the leftover portion into my ice pop containers and placed them in the freezer to keep for later.

Now it was time for some sprinkler fun!

Once the boys were completely drenched I popped out the smoothie ice pops from the freezer!

Again I performed some trickery as the kiddos thought they were having a “treat”, but they were really getting a dose of fruit! Score!

As you can see, my boys loved them!

They also enjoyed the other Musselman’s snacks we received.    The apple sauce in snack cups is perfect for a healthy snack at a moments notice.  I like to keep them in the frig so my kids can just grab one when they want one.  The all natural version has no added sugar and therefore I can feel good I’m not giving my kids a sugar dose.  My eldest son likes to eat these without a spoon.  I would have thought it would be messy, but he does a good job of maintaining the sauce.  They also loved a new version of applesauce that we had never tried before called, Totally Fruit.  Like the title this applesauce like concoction has only fruit, no high fructose corn syrup!  We tried the strawberry and peach version and both were a hit.

Check out the recipe I included above plus many more at Musselman’s online.

I received the above mentioned product for review purposes, all opinions are my own.
