As a busy mom of three little boys, I try, whenever possible, to plan my meals. Occasionally I find myself scrambling in the kitchen at 5 o’clock. It’s not a pretty picture. Instead I try to take a few minutes on the weekend to plan our meals for the entire week. With a prepared list I can shop at our local Walmart store and purchase everything I need for the coming week. Do you have a Super Walmart or a regular one? Are there even any non Super Walmarts left? We have a Super Walmart for each end of our town:)
And while I wouldn’t consider Walmart as my go-to-source for food shopping, I do know that I will find great prices on products my family uses on a regular basis. My objective on a recent visit was to stock up on Unilever spreads. I will be using the It’s Good to Know website for recipe inspiration and I wanted to make sure I was well supplied with a variety of cholesterol free spreads.
The options are overwhelming! Whether I’m cooking or baking I can find the product that best suits what I’m preparing. I used to think of spreads as being unhealthy. And perhaps they truly were 20 years ago. But times have changed. And now spreads such as- I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, Country Crock, Brummel & Brown, Promise, and Imperial all have no cholesterol and no hydrogenated oils. Plus they are made with 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter and include a blend of oils rich in Omega-3 ALA.
Now that I am prepared with a wide plethora of yummy spreads, my only problem is deciding which delicious recipe to make! Tortilla-Crusted Chicken Breasts, Chicken Sandwiches with Basil Aioli, and Rosemary-Orange Chicken & Veggies are high on my list of options. In a few weeks I’ll share which recipe I selected:) Which one would you pick? I’m looking for delicious, but fast dishes during this busy summer season. I’ll be sure to share my results!
Cooking your favorite recipes using Unilever buttery spreads is a deliciously smart move. With 0g trans fats per serving, less saturated fat and fewer calories than butter, cholesterol-free spreads are a better option.

Thanks for the informative post. I use most of these brands when I make a recipe that calls for butter, but I have to have my real butter when I serve vegetables or corn on the cob, bread or anything I will have the full flavor. There goes my cholesterol out the door.
Hello, I have read such terrible report about margarine being very close to plastic, that I have always used real butter. I will have to do some research before I switch. But, I don’t use enough butter to make a difference. If I were to use margarine, I would probably use I can’t believe it’s not butter. And, chicken is always a good go to recipes. Thank you. Vicki
Good to see these products mentioned. I’ve switched to organic butter but am now willing to look over these products again.
My family needs this! I love that their is 0g of trans fat
We, too, have a WalMart at each end of town, and 1 in the middle! Great for price-matching. Have you tried any of these products in baked goods? I’m curious as to how well they work.
I stock up on these too. Our grocery store always has a b1g1 sale for these.
I actually CAN believe it’s not butter. But I was glad to read that Walmart carries it. It’s cheaper than butter.
My doctor asked me to use butter because margarine is not real — It is certainly less expensive than butter.
Hi! I love I can’t believe its not butter! It is the only one I buy! I also buy it at Walmart. connie danielson
I never, ever use real butter. I have always used margarine – I enjoy the taste, I like that I can by light margarine and to me it tastes bo different, and I like the price!! 🙂
I’ve been using ICBINB for years! Tastes great – had it on an English Muffin today.
I love Country Crock! we buy this all of the time! It works for recipes that call for butter.
We switched to I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter about a year ago, my DH does a lot of research on what is healthy for us. We are staying with my MIL and she has dementia, and with my MS and gastroparesis what goes in our bodies is more than important. We also bought some for my daughter and her family loves it too. I love the recipes on the itsgoodtoknow site. Can’t wait to try some of them. Thank you for your review.

I love unilever products and they always have pretty great coupons too which is a big help 🙂
Less saturated fat and less calories is something hard to come by with certain foods, so it’s good to go this route with butter.
I never use real butter anymore. Less fat and calories and they taste great. I never have a reason to go back to real butter.
We love using the spray on corn on the cob and all our other veggies!
I can always find what I need at Walmart! I love that it has less saturated fat than others!
I need to meal plan more often, if I do I make healthier choices, not only for what to cook but at the grocery store. I try to steer away from using butter, but a more healthy option would be great to try.
These are all great products! But I can not live without I Can’t Believe its not butter. I put it on my veges. potatoes and it makes them taste so good. The best product to give food a great taste!
We use the big tubs of country crock all the time. I have also used the I can’t believe it’s not butter with olive oil
We don’t have a super Walmart in our town, however I see a lot more food items popping up as time goes by. No meat as of yet.
Thanks for the information on this .I try to use a spread that is best for us health wise. I buy at Walmart because its usually cheaper there. I also like the spread with olive oil tho the rest of the family doesnt
The recipes on goodtoknow are awesome! I never would’ve heard of it unless I hadn’t seen it here. They should advertise it!
country crock is one we use around our house most of the time. walmart always has good prices on these items.
I don’t eat a lot of foods that require having a spread on them but when I do I do prefer the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spread.
i’m glad some include omega 3s. they always say you should get a lot of it, but unless you eat a lot of fish, it isn’t easy, so i’m always glad when i find things that include it….and it doesn’t hurt that these have other great stats too. i’ve tried all the variations you listed and i liked all of them.
I use the I can’t believe it’s not butter. I like the taste and it’s a lot better for you!
I shop a lot at the Super Walmart because the prices are the cheapest in town. I use real butter and I also like Country Crock!
I’m going to start cooking with the spreads!
I switched to I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter about 2 years ago because my husband has high cholesterol. We love the taste of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter. I use it for all my cooking and baking. You can always find several tubs and sticks of it in our fridge. I also love the recipes you can find on the It’s Good to Know website.
We love Country Crock! I use it on everything, plus baking 🙂
Good to know which ones are good. Thanks for this post.
My mom used to always buy country crock.
My husband will only us real butter. I use margarine with most of my cooking.
I use this on noodles, and my sister uses it on popcorn.
I’m so impressed at all the delicious dishes you can make cooking with spreads. We have been lovers of Country Crock a long time, and now I can’t believe it’s not butter too, so grateful that it’s cholesterol free and has no hydrogenated oils, makes me happy to know my family is getting the best.
i love shopping at walmart and love all their product and especially their discounts are amazing.
We always use Country Crock but I didn’t realize it was so cheap at Walmart! Will definitely be buying it there next time!
we use country crock it is all that my husband will use.
My husband is just starting to ‘get’ that he has to dial it back on the fats and cholesterol. He’s ok with what I use to cook things with, like this.
I live in a very small town so we don’t have a Super Walmart nor a regular Walmart in our town. We have to go 9 miles to the next town to go to Super Walmart and I absolutely love it!! Ive used country crock for years. I haven’t used anything else. I think I may try I can’t believe it’s not butter. I’ve heard lots of good things about it.
I want to keep my family healthy so I use the best spread I can find and the tastiest which for us is I can’t Believe it’s not Butter.
I love to try healthy alternatives when it comes to cooking for my family 🙂

Thank you for the information on these spreads. I use Country Crock but didn’t know about the others. Now I know I have other choices.
Thanks for the review. I admit that I’m more concerned with flavor and price than I am about the fat and calorie content of products I buy. When I’m baking, I often use half butter and half margarine (stick-style spreads).
Because of the choloresterol scare, I’ve never baked with butter.
WALMART HAS EVERTHING I NEED TO FEED MY FAMILY AND ALL THE FOSTER CHILDERN WE HAVE COME IN OUR HOME. THISGIFT CARD WOULD HELP SO MUCH. HOPE TO WIN
I use Country Crock and ICNB both, depending on the sales but I gotta say ICNB is my fave!
I have used I can’t believe it’s not butter since it was first introduced to the market place!!
I’ve used the liquidy I Cant Believe its Not Butter Spray to make a healthier caramel drizzle for popcorn by heating it with brown sugar in a saucepan to create a liquidy caramelized consistency. I love it.
I love Country Crock! I use it all the time.
There is a non-Super Walmarts in our place but I usually encounter Unilever products from shampoo to other products. I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter seems interesting because it has omega-3 ALA. I guess I should look for innovative products who have omega 3 so that I will have more options than eating fish and fish oil intake.
