Timeless Dinnerware with Quatrefoil by Lenox Giveaway (2 Winners!)

I have mentioned before my love of fine china.  But perhaps I should clarify that I believe it is the historical aspect of china that I find most intriguing.  As a former history teacher I find that certain patterns impart a sense of the time period they represent.  Frequently various patterns will be resurrected time and again.  Nothing really ends, right?   Such is the case with the Quatrefoil line from Lenox.

This ancient pattern which has been seen historically in Greek and Persian empires is currently experiencing a revival in certain popular television shows.   Game of Thrones, Once Upon a Time, and The Borgias have all featured the quatrefoil style.

What exactly is quatrefoil?  According to Wikipedia (honestly, it’s a reliable source!)-

In art, architecture and traditional Christian symbolism, the quatrefoil is a type of decorative framework consisting of a symmetrical shape which forms the overall outline of four partially overlapping circles of the same diameter. The word quatrefoil means “four leaves”, from Latin quattuor, four, plus folium, a leaf and applies to general four-lobed shapes in various contexts.

Frequently this quatrefoil pattern would be seen in high drama windows and balustrades in Medieval, Renaissance and Gothic Revival architecture as seen in the picture below.

Beautiful, isn’t it?   It appears I am not alone in this belief as a quick visit to Pinterest using the keyword “quatrefoil” creates a plethora of results.  Pillows, iphone cases, almost anything you can think of can be elegantly displayed with this classic pattern.

But when it comes to fine china Lenox has clearly created the epitome of taste with their quatrefoil pattern.  Lenox china is always beautiful and elegant, but this pattern is a particularly lovely design.  The dinnerware features the pattern delicately outlined in platinum and repeated in bands throughout the collection. The platinum leafs are then tied together with gold dots.  Attention to detail is what sets Lenox apart from the rest.

Whatever your interest in the quatrefoil style- attempting to recreate the look of Game of Thrones or like me, simply a lover of historically inspired items, Lenox Quatrefoil place setting creates an elegant look.  Purchase multiple place settings to entertain friends and family in this popular style (great for a wedding gift!) or purchase a few key pieces to mix into an eclectic collection.

A five-piece place setting of Quatrefoil by Lenox includes a dinner plate, salad plate, butter plate, cup and saucer.  Statement pieces for entertaining include a serving bowl and an oval platter. The collection is entirely dishwasher safe and made in America. Quatrefoil and dozens of classic and contemporary Lenox patterns are offered at Lenox.com

Also connect with Lenox via Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date on the latest information.

Okay, first I have to say that the quatrefoil is my absolute favorite shape! Our china now (which we purchased at an estate sale) would go so well with this. It’s white with a simple silver rim. So I guess the guest of honor at each china-worthy event would get to have the quatrefoil set while everyone else ate off the plain plates. Seems like a plan to me!
