Tasty Treats from Lucky Leaf Pie Fillings

Blackberry Shake via Lucky Leaf Blackberry Pie Filling!

This is the way to celebrate the end of summer!

What do you call a family owned company that has made a name for itself by producing high quality, easy-to-use dessert products?
We call it as American as apple pie. Since 1949 Lucky Leaf has stayed true to its mission of providing simple, delicious dessert products for families across the United States by constantly improving our products to meet the changing needs of our customers.

Lucky Leaf recently announced the winners of their 2nd Annual Made with Love Recipe Contest.  Don’t they sounds yummy!  Have you ever entered a cooking contest?  If you made a recipe using Lucky Leaf product what would you create?  I am very good at following recipes, but not so original enough to create them!

2nd Annual Made with Love Recipe Contest

Better Homes & Garden and Lucky Leaf have selected the top three winning recipes for their 2nd Annual Made with Love Recipe Contest. We are happy to announce the Grand Prize Winner is Greg F., with Pork Chops in Apple Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce, from The Woodlands, Texas. We would also like to congratulate the runners up, Nadine M., with Lemon Bar Blackberry Trifle, from Mount Health, OH and Lindsay W., with Harvest Apple Ice Cream with Warm Salted Caramel, from Overland Park, KS.

The remaining seven finalists and their recipes include:

I decided to tackle some recipes available at the Lucky Leaf web site.  The most surprising?  The Blackberry Shake.  It was delicious and easy!  Perhaps all of you Mama Report readers already know that pie fillings make great shakes, but I had never heard of it before.  I was skeptical that it would taste too sugary or fake.  I don’t really know why I thought that, except that I have had bad shakes before.  This one was one of the BEST!  And so easy.  All you need is Lucky Leaf Blackberry Pie Filling, milk, and ice cream.
Mix it all together in a food processor or blender and you have a tasty treat!
My oldest was in heaven, as he has a sweet tooth.
Next on my list was an Apple Brown Betty.  I had never made a betty type dessert before either, but it too was easy.    If you are looking for a simple and quick dessert this summer or fall, be sure to give it a try. I was truly impressed by the Lucky Leaf apple pie filling.  I was expecting small chunks, that vaguely resembled apples, but instead there were apple slices!  Check it out!
And last on my list was a Cherry Coffee Cake.  This was also easy, do you get the feeling this is a trend?  Again, I was also impressed by the filling itself.  Rather than being weighed down in heavy syrup the fruit is nicely packaged and tastes more like the fruit and less like a bowl full of sugar.
I also received some Knouse Foods Apple Crisps mix to review.  I was really skeptical to try this since I make a pretty mean apple crisps, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results.  It was very good!  Apple Crisp is my favorite fall dessert and I can’t wait to make it more as the weather starts to turn a bit cooler.  Bring on autumn!
I received the above mentioned product for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

  1. Double Yum!
