Beat the Heat at the MN Children’s Museum at the MOA

Minnesota Children's Museum at Mall of America

At a recent visit to the Mall of America we stopped by to checkout the latest attraction at the Minnesota Children’s Museum. This microsite is a great way to beat the heat this summer. The latest attraction is a special Clifford exhibit {on display until September 11th}. My kids are a little too old to adore Clifford the Big Red Dog still, though they are very familiar with the characters. Small child that enjoy these books and accompanying TV show will no doubt be delighted by the actual big red dog and look-alike set.

My children? They perused right past this part and settled in on their favorite permanent area, the ball experiments. Thankfully the museum understands a good thing when they’ve got it. Special exhibits come and go, but the ball area? It’s a keeper. The amount of delight they have from trying to “ace” the timing of these displays is infectious. It’s a simple joy and the kid within me joined in when I wasn’t snapping a few pictures. Sometimes there is pressure to not be the adult playing with kid toys in public. But as long as you are not preventing other kids from checking it out, who cares?

Of course my oldest son needed new shoes. A quick trip to a nearby shoe store solved this issue, but I love that we were able to combine an errand with play. And don’t forget that your MN Children’s Museum membership works for this location, no extra fees involved.
