Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and Other Stories DVD Review

Warner Home Video dishes up another treat from Dr. Seuss with the release of Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and Other Stories Deluxe Edition, a collection of favorite animated stories available on Blu-ray™ for the first time on June 26, 2012.

Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and Other Stories Deluxe Edition will be comprised of three classics, including Green Eggs and Ham, The Sneetches and The Zax. All three have been re-mastered for this deluxe edition, which will be available in a standard DVD edition and in a Blu-ray combo pack that includes both a Blu-ray and DVD edition.

When I opened the package that contained the Dr. Seuss Blu-Ray/DVD my kids saw it instantly.  It seems like they have now figured out that when the delivery guys or mailman gives us a package it often contains something for them so they are impatiently waiting for the package to be opened.  When it was movie time for them they were really excited.  My five year old has watched some Cat in the Hat on our local PBS station and we have read multiple Dr. Seuss books so he was already familiar with the characters.
This DVD had 3 movies: Green Eggs & Ham, The Zax, and The Sneeches.  We are very familiar with Green Eggs and Ham, but not so familiar with the other stories.  Each story has a moral behind them and my kids enjoyed the stories.  My kids were giggling a lot throughout these videos.  I don’t think my 2 year old really got it, but when her big brother is laughing she has to join in.  I love having something different for my children to watch, because quite frequently we get in a rut with kids shows and watch the same one over and over again.   It is always nice to get a new one to add to the mix.

I love the moral behind Green Eggs and Ham as it seems as I am constantly trying to get my kids to try something new.  Since they are so young it can be difficult to get them to try a different food.  The idea that he doesn’t like it, but once he tries it he really likes it is a great lesson to teach children.

The Sneeches story talks about how everyone is different and we really shouldn’t leave someone out because they aren’t just like us.

The Zax is about 2 people who are set in there ways and won’t budge from the path they are taking.  While they are being resolute the world keeps moving and changing around them.  I like this because it shows kids that being stubborn might mean that you are missing what is going around you.

I also like the extras on the Blu Ray.  There are puzzles for the kids to play and my five year old son thought they were fun when we tried them.

This movie was a hit in our house.  We watched it twice in 2 days and if I would have let them they would have watched it more.

Dr Seuss’s Green Eggs & Ham & Other Stories is available from Amazon for $15.93
