I received the following product for review purposes, all opinions are my own.
Listening to music is no longer what it once was. My parents loved listening to their records. On a record player. This method of music officially fits into the antique category, yet I still distinctly remember the skip my favorite Christmas album would make as my mom and I made cookies. When I was about ten years old I felt very “cool” to own a radio with a tape player. I have some humorous tapes from that season of my life when I thought it was hilarious to tape my conversations with various family members and friends. Of course with tapes came the dreaded fear of a jumbled mess. I remember carefully winding several tape back to functionality. It was a precarious time.
When I was just a bit older I received a CD player. I thought it was so awesome. No more fast forwarding or rewinding!! I could select a specific track on a CD! My first purchased CD? Achtung Baby by U2. I memorized every song. Soon I started purchasing more CD’s and my collection became vast. I was sure CD’s were always going to be around….. then came an iPod. My CD’s were worthless! Such space suckers! I’m glad to report that with my last move I officially ditched all my CD’s.
(CD’s these days are only for bedtime stories!)
But these days even my iPod is getting dusty. Today, listening to music is all about streaming. I can have any song I want at any time, all literally at my fingertips. The problem? My phone and my iPad don’t exactly have stellar speakers. If I want to stream music in a room (I especially love to do this when I’m cooking) I need a speaker.
Checkout the new age of listening to music- streaming with a DECK wireless speaker from Sol Republic.
Using Bluetooth capabilities it took me about one minute to remove the DECK speaker from it’s packaging and have music streaming via my phone.
I am somewhat familiar with other steaming speakers and I immediately noticed a couple of features that made this DECK model unique. When turning the device on it lets you know the level the battery is charged- either full, half, or near empty. The full battery lasted a surprisingly long time. With battery power like that I can make my music mobile anywhere for a long time! Another aspect that I had never experienced in a steaming speaker is the Heist Mode™. This fun addition allows up to five friends to connect to the speaker at the same time allowing for easy sharing of music.
The controls are so easy to use my four year old has them mastered. And with this sort of ease of use we can have an impromptu dance party at any time!
I’m sure I”m missing a lot of technical aspects of this device. For instance there are 360° of full sound and a wireless range of up to 300 feet. But I do know that the sound is great and my DECK is easy to use. It’s just pretty darn handy to have around. I still have the Christmas records from my youth, but only for nostalgic reasons. Now limitless music has never been so easy. I suppose every generation is destined to feel that youth is privileged, but with this DECK wireless speaker my kids have it so easy!
