I recently received some Halloween costumes from Party City for my 4 1/2 year old son and my 16 month old daughter. As I was researching the costumes my son looked over my shoulder and saw some Transformer costumes in the Boys Halloween costumes section. He is completely into Transformers right now and he had a hard time deciding between Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. What a decision for a preschooler especially since these are his favorite characters! After much deliberation he chose Optimus Prime. Along with the costume I found that in the Costume Accessories they also had gloves for Optimus Prime so we completed his costume with those gloves. Here are the website pictures of the costumes we chose.
As soon as we got this costume we had to try it on and was it a hit! The size of the Boys Halloween costume we got was a small, which is for ages 4-6, this fits fairly well but is a little big right now since he is on the beginning of the age range. I think the sizes run true on this costume. The gloves are a one size fits most kids and since he is a young child they are a little large on him. Here is a couple of pictures his costume and gloves.
For my 16 month old daughter I held the entire decision for costumes as she doesn’t have an opinion as of yet. I chose 2 costumes for her in the Girls Halloween costumes. I chose an Aurora, Sleeping Beauty costume in a size 2T and a Tinkerbell Costume in a 3T/4T. In the Costume Accessories I chose a Tinkerbell Wand for her. Where my son was excited to try on his costume, my daughter was a little more of a challenge. She is a typical toddler and doesn’t want to do what you would like her to do. It was a struggle to get her in the costumes and pictures. My daughter is a size 18 months at this time so I got the Aurora costume for this year. The size seems to be pretty true to a 2T, but the problem I had with this costume is that it is an off the shoulder with little elastic strap holders to hold it up at the shoulders. Since she is not quite a 2T it didn’t want to stay up very well, but I think it will be better when Halloween comes as she should be closer to a 2T size. Here is a picture of her in her costume.
The Tinkerbell costume I am hoping will be perfect for next year as it is a 3T/4T. I loved this costume and she looks really cute in it even though it was pretty big on her. I don’t think it fits yet how it is meant to fit but didn’t think it was too bad considering. The wings are held up by velcro and since the costume was so big on her they were falling over, but once it starts fitting her better I don’t think they will fall down as much. Since she is so little and the wand has little beads and such I didn’t think it would be a good idea yet to let her carry it especially since she would hit everything in sight with it!
