I have mentioned before that dog themed items are currently a big hit at my house.  It seems as though we have increased the frequency with which we discuss the idea of getting a dog.  It will happen.  My husband and I know this.  We both had dogs as children and have wonderful memories with our respective pets.  That being said, my husband and I are not terribly excited to have another dog.  As adults we realize the responsibility will mostly be our burden.  We contemplated getting a dog this fall, but I think we have officially decided to wait until our youngest is out of diapers.  It really isn’t fair to me to have deal with potty training two living beings as once.  Or at least that is our excuse.  Needless to say, since my youngest is two and a half our time is limited!

But back to the DVD!  Dogs as astronauts or rather, cosmonauts is a perfect mix for little boys.  This story is based on a actual events, of course the key word to remember is “based”.  Talking dogs isn’t exactly reality!:)  My boys found this DVD to be fun, silly, and entertaining.  It was fun to see some of the process involved with training for space travel.  For instance the dogs experience zero gravity with that machine (I don’t remember what it is called) that spins them around and around.   It is moments like this when I can point out to my toys that real astronauts used to use this method.  Just like anything in life, I try to use these little snippets as a teachable moment.  I can’t say this DVD is my boys new favorite, but they did thoroughly enjoy it.  Perhaps little ones who are more interested in space travel would find this a bit more exciting?
