Rock ‘N Learn, Inc began in 1986 as an idea that would help children learn by putting educational material to music with a current sound — the kind of music that kids genuinely enjoy and find motivating. Now, with over 50 titles, Rock ‘N Learn products cover preschool, math, reading, science, social studies, languages, and test preparation. Jill and Joey are so excited about starting kindergarten! Your kids will get excited too, as they learn essential skills through fun songs, animated characters, and real children. Skills include colors, counting, tying shoes, following directions, holding a pencil, printing letters and numbers, listening, number recognition and printing numbers through ten, getting dressed, left/right directions, and more.
Ages 3 – 5. Approx. 45 minutes.
Getting Ready for Kindergarten covers these skills: buttoning • zipping • colors • counting • tying shoes with “bunny ear method” • following directions • sequencing • sorting • neatness and organizing • asking permission • walking in a line • size comparisons • drawing a person • sharing • listening comprehension • letter recognition • number recognition • holding a pencil • printing letters and numbers • shapes • patterns • left/right directions
My son will be 5 in November and is in his last year of preschool. He is a typical boy and does not want to sit down and work on his letters and numbers. I was interested in this DVD as I thought it might help him learn through watching cartoons. This DVD includes learning how to pick an outfit, get dressed, make your bed, numbers up to 10, letters, how to hold a pencil, etc. We know a lot of these items, as he has dressed himself for over a year and can count to twenty fairly well. He mostly knows his alphabet, but only the upper case letters. The school district we are in only focuses on upper case letters. A nice thing about this DVD is that he is exposed to the lower case letters so hopefully that will help him when he is required to learn the lower case letters in kindergarten.
My son has watched this DVD a few times and while he wouldn’t ask for it on a regular basis, it does keep his attention. He even started dancing in his chair a couple of times as he loves music and the DVD has a number of catchy songs. We will continue to watch this DVD to help reinforce his skills until we are completely ready for kindergarten.

Check out Rock ‘N Learn’s newest FREE iPad App. Sight Words for Reading HD!
Description: This app helps students learn sight words, the most common words in children’s literature. It covers a few words from both the Fry’s and Dolch lists. Words are presented in context in fun videos. This helps learners understand the meaning of the words, which aids in reading comprehension.
After watching the videos to learn new sight words, learners can test themselves with a flash card quiz. The words are presented in a random order, so the quiz is different every time!
This free app covers only six words from Rock ‘N Learn’s popular Sight Words DVD program. Look for more Sight Words apps coming soon!
