Mo Willems first captured my attention when he released the book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!. I had never read a children’s book that was quite so hilarious. The illustrations were simple. The story was goofy. And the pigeon truly seemed to come alive from the page. I was equally impressed with Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity. Mo Willems has a witty way with words bringing entertaining children and their parents.
The Story of Diva and Flea is Mo’s newest addition, collaborating with award-winning illustrator Toni DiTerlizzi. Diva, a small yet brave dog, and Flea, a curious streetwise cat, develop an unexpected friendship in this unforgettable tale of discovery.
For as long as she could remember, Diva lived at 11 avenue Le Play in Paris, France. For as long as he could remember, Flea also lived in Paris, France–but at no fixed address. When Flea flâneurs past Diva’s courtyard one day, their lives are forever changed. Together, Diva and Flea explore and share their very different worlds, as only true friends can do.

I have not read any other Mo Willemstad books. The reason I hope to win is that my grand daughter needs to read more and this book looks like the perfect match. It is colorful and humorous, I think this combination would pull my grand daughter into reading more.
