Once again singing vegetables are a hit with, ‘Twas the Night Before Easter. Larry the cucumber and Bob the tomato search for Easter eggs as the story begins. Is anyone else amazed at how these vegetables find eggs and put them in their baskets without hands and arms? Sometimes certain things just aren’t necessary I guess.
As a local theater is being threatened to be torn down by its owner, an asparagus, Marlee Meade (a rhubarb) makes a last attempt effort to keep its dramatic doors open. She puts together a big show to help revive the condemned place. As I’ve mentioned before vegetables have never been cuter. How can they look so personable? Great animation, I guess. My kids love Veggies Tales stories and ‘Twas the Night Before Easter is a wonderful new edition. The video contains catchy songs and excellent singing by those cutie pie veggies. I love that my kids are watching something nonviolent. They love Transformers and Power Rangers, but it is good to slip in something entirely devoid of testosterone induced adrenaline. And one of my favorite parts of the show is how my three year old laughs at those crazy vegetables. Nothing is sweeter than listening to those gut busting laughs:)
The Sing-A-Long included in the “Eggs-tras” section is a fun addition. They show you how to master the “Hopperena”, very reminiscent of the “Makrena”. My three year old was sining “Hopperena” for days after viewing this video.
The bonus game option was also a big hit with my 3 year old. He had fun playing the egg memory game with the characters. A little interactive TV is never a bad thing.
Here is a brief synopsis of the DVD- It’s Easter time in Crisper County and cable news reporter Marlee Meade (Petunia Rhubarb) is hunting for a way to help others. On a tip that the old town theater will be shut down, Marlee cooks up a plan to save the stage. Despite all her schemes, will she discover the true meaning of Easter and what helping others is really about?
If you are looking for a DVD to add to your child’s basket this Easter ‘Twas the Night Before Easter is a great option.
