My boys love Winne the Pooh. In fact, my youngest son (age 2) just recently “discovered” this loveable bear. At our local community parent/child classes there is a huge Pooh picture on the door. He loves to point to the picture and say, “Pooh”. However I get the distinct feeling he is a little confused and using the word as “poo” instead of “Pooh”. Oh well, he will figure it out in time:)
We recently went on a fast, yet long road trip to the Bob Evans Farm Festival in Rio Grande, Ohio. Needless to say, my boys watched a series of videos in our rental van during this time period, including the new Winnie the Pooh DVD. The Winnie the Pooh characters are so lovable and fun. My boys were familiar with them through previous movies and books. My four year old especially loved this video. He had a series of gut busting laughs watching the crazy antics of Tigger. There is something so appealing and funny about the super bouncy character of Tigger. This is how children’s television should be- full of lovable and friendly characters. No violence, no fighting, no outlandish incidents. My boys love Power Rangers and Tranformers and all things “boy”, but it is important to temper their testosterone driven side, with a gentler literature based side. Luckily my boys love great literature too!
