Best Places to Eat in the Wisconsin Dells

I received compensation for the creation of this post, all opinions are my own.

Our family made two trips to the Wisconsin Dells area this summer. It’s such a fun family destination and is an easy trip from the Minneapolis area. Even though we have visited this location a number of times there are still new and exciting places to explore. We have yet to attend the Tommy Barlett show, but it’s high on my list of must-sees for our next trip.

With regards to eating-out we have some definite family favorites in the area, but in our recent trips we’ve also explored new places. It’s that mix of longstanding favorites with new adventures that make exploring a vacation area fun. Our two favorite places are Moosejaw and Sprecher’s. Root beer fans unite! Both destinations have fabulous root beers and microbrews. Moosejaw has fantastic pizza, while Sprecher’s has classic Wisconsin brats.

New eateries we discovered on our recent trips include Buffalo Phil’s and Monk’s. If you have young children, Buffalo Phil’s is a definite winner. A small train delivers food and drinks to your table. My five-year-old was beside himself with glee. And when the train unleashed a flurry of bubbles from an automatic bubble maker….he karate chopped the air like a blonde whirlwind. It was hilarious. I’d heard of train places like this before, but it was also my first visit at this sort of restaurant. I had a delicious salad, which I highly recommend. Bottom line- the amusement factor was high and the food was awesome. It’s a definite repeat.

In the heart of downtown Wisconsin Dells we visited the old school Monk’s. Don’t confuse this location with its brother restaurant located closer to the interstate. This bar had great food and a fun atmosphere. We, of course, brought the whole family and it was a very family friendly, but I also envision it would be a perfect place for Friday night drinks with friends.

A Wisconsin staple and a great quick food option is the Culver’s located near the interstate. If you visit Wisconsin you have to try a butter burger and Culver’s version is a winner. I’m not a big fan of eating in the car, but in order to maximize our time in the Dells getting our lunch to go for our return trip home was a great option.
